Malcolm playing
guitar / managing rock covers band Slingshot 1997 - 2005... originally
started off playing tapes through the PA between sets... then onto
CD's... then adding in a crossfader and some lights...
|
|

|
Then Malcolm
asked to DJ at biker events circa 1999...
|
|
|
Initially
using band PA and lights, the SCRE was born and began DJing in earnest
in year 2000, playing rock at biker weekend rallies & 1-day shows...
all money from gigs put back into the show to buy equipment to make
it a standalone roadshow.

|

|
Realising
that no-one was playing the new rock (nu-metal) that was emerging
at the time at these events, the name and emphasis was changed...
|
|
|
...and the
Alt. Slingshot Alternative Rock Roadshow was born! The emphasis was
an Alternative to the traditional dinosaur rock-only fare - which
at the time was something new - and very popular! After the hugely
successful initial crusade in 2001, with gigs at the BMF Show, British
Grand Prix / MAG Mega Show and International V-Twin rally amongst
many others - all (except BMF who used PA company only for disco)
rebooked for 2002 with the addition of Reading MAG's Lion Rally &
Yorks' MAG's Farmyard Party where I DJ'd the main arena - for 8,000
people through the main PA.
|
|

|
As the roadshow
evolved - and others caught up - I found myself diversifying into
other areas away from biking events. I still DJ at bike rallies, but
also now do many other non-rock gigs from birthdays & weddings to
office parties and DJ sets in night clubs, rock and otherwise.

|
The End
|
... In 2005, the
name was changed to 'Pagan Flame' to reflect the fact that the roadshow
was now entirely separate from Slingshot (the band) - the band itself
split in September 2005 due to a lack of gigs, leaving me to concentrate
on mobile DJing.

... so for 2006, speakers, lights, amps were upgraded in January,
all relevant documentation and paperwork obtained to make the FDR
a fully road-legal and professional Roadshow, once again changing
the name (to reflect the new direction), to The Firedance Roadshow.
